Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between Neopixel and Baselit?
Baselit: The LED sits inside the hilt and shines up through a hollow polycarbonate blade. The whole blade lights up as one unit. Inexpensive, extremely durable, and ideal for heavy dueling. Neopixel: A strip of individually addressable LEDs runs the full length of the blade. Each pixel lights independently, producing smooth scrolling ignition, localized clash flashes, and cinematic effects like unstable blades and flame. Much more visually impressive but the internal LED strip can crack under hard strikes. Baselit leans practical; Neopixel leans cinematic.
Can I duel with a Neopixel saber?
Yes — with a heavy-grade blade and realistic expectations. Neopixel sabers handle light-to-medium recreational sparring and choreographed dueling well. For heavy full-contact competitive dueling at full force, baselit is the safer choice. The LED strip inside a Neopixel blade can crack under repeated maximum-force strikes, and a damaged strip means replacing the entire blade.
What is the difference between Xenopixel and Proffie?
Both are soundboards for Neopixel sabers. Xenopixel V3: Plug-and-play, pre-loaded with 30+ sound fonts and 12+ blade effects, controlled via smartphone app. Best for 90% of buyers. Proffie 2.2: Fully open-source, programmed via Arduino, unlimited custom blade styles and sound fonts. Requires connecting to a computer. Best for enthusiasts who love tweaking and total control.
How bright is a Neopixel blade?
A typical Neopixel blade has 120-150 individually addressable LEDs running at maximum brightness. In a dark room, it will light up an entire space and cast colored shadows. In daylight, clearly visible. For cosplay and indoor events, Neopixel is unmatched.
How long does the battery last?
Neopixel: 1-3 hours of active use, depending on brightness and blade length. Baselit: 3-5+ hours. All ISABERS sabers charge via USB Type-C. Full charge: 2-3 hours. Important: Use only a standard 5V 1A USB charger. Fast chargers (2A+) can damage the battery and soundboard.
Can I change the blade colour?
Yes. Baselit models cycle through 12+ colours via button controls. Neopixel models offer millions of colours plus customizable blade effects per colour profile. Xenopixel can be configured via smartphone app. Proffie lets you program exact RGB values for every colour.
How durable are lightsabers?
Blades are made from polycarbonate — the same material used in riot shields. Hilts are CNC-machined from aircraft-grade aluminium alloy. With reasonable care, a quality saber lasts years. The most common failure point: blade tip coming loose after repeated hard strikes (easily fixed with glue).
Which blade length should I choose?
32 inch (82cm): Best for one-handed use, spinning, and smaller duelists. 36 inch (92cm): Standard all-around length, good balance of reach and control. Our most popular option. 40 inch (102cm): Extra reach for two-handed styles and taller users. Rule of thumb: the blade should reach roughly from your hip to the ground when held at your side.
Can I take a lightsaber on a plane?
Yes — but always pack it in checked luggage, never carry-on. Remove the battery. The hilt looks suspicious on X-ray and will get flagged. Put a note on the hilt: Lightsaber prop – LED toy. Most TSA agents are familiar with lightsabers by now.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes — worldwide. International delivery: 10-21 business days depending on destination and customs. See our Shipping Policy for full details.
Can I install my own sound fonts?
Yes. Xenopixel V3 supports custom sound fonts via SD card. Download .wav files, copy them to the correct folder, and they appear in the app. Proffie supports unlimited custom fonts via Arduino programming.
What is a heavy-grade blade?
A heavy-grade blade has thicker polycarbonate walls (typically 3mm vs 2mm for standard). It weighs more but absorbs impact much better. Always choose heavy-grade if you plan to duel.
How do I charge and maintain my lightsaber?
Charge via USB Type-C with a standard 5V 1A charger only. Maintenance: clean the blade with microfiber after use, keep the charging port covered when not in use, tighten the retention screw before each dueling session, store with battery at 50-70% charge if unused for weeks, check blade tip tightness after heavy dueling.
What is the warranty on ISABERS sabers?
All ISABERS lightsabers include a 1-year warranty covering electronics and manufacturing defects. Blades are covered for 30 days. See our Warranty page for full details.
Can I return a saber if I change my mind?
Unused sabers in original packaging may be returned within 30 days. Return shipping at the buyers expense. Used or dueled sabers are not eligible for return. See our Refund Policy for full details.
